THE STORY
A Deeper Love follows nearly a decade in the life of Miss Peppermint, a Black trans artist and activist whose public coming out marked a turning point for trans representation on stage and screen. From New York City nightlife to history-making runs on RuPaul’s Drag Race and Broadway, the film traces her ascent while capturing the emotional stakes behind the spotlight.
Built from years of intimate access and unguarded footage, the documentary reveals Peppermint in full, navigating transition, survival, intimacy, and chosen family within a circle of trans sisters who shaped a cultural shift.
MEET Peppermint
Artist. Activist. Pioneer.
Miss Peppermint first gained national recognition as a finalist on RuPaul’s Drag Race, later becoming the first openly trans woman to originate a principal role on Broadway in Head Over Heels. But her story extends far beyond milestones.
An artist and activist shaped by New York City nightlife, Peppermint has built her career in real time - navigating visibility, responsibility, and the pressure of being first. In A Deeper Love, we witness not only the performer on stage, but the woman forging a life within and beyond the spotlight.
